Your Lash Extension Care Guide
Client name: _______________
Date of treatment: _______________
Lash style: _______________
Technician: _______________
First 24 to 48 Hours
- Do not get your lashes wet for at least 24 hours (some adhesives require 48 hours - your technician will confirm).
- Avoid steam, saunas, steam rooms and hot baths.
- Avoid swimming pools, the sea and hot tubs.
- Avoid heavy exercise that causes sweating around the eye area.
- Do not rub your eyes or touch your lashes.
- Avoid sleeping face-down. Sleep on your back or side if possible.
Daily Care
- Brush your lashes gently with a clean spoolie each morning to keep them neat and separated.
- Avoid oil-based products near your eyes. Oil breaks down lash adhesive.
- Use oil-free makeup remover if you wear eye makeup.
- Clean your lashes regularly with a lash-safe cleanser (your technician can recommend one). Dirty lashes do not last as long and can cause irritation or infection.
What to Avoid
- Waterproof mascara. The remover needed to take it off will damage the adhesive bond. If you want to use mascara, use a water-based one on the tips only - never at the base.
- Cotton pads and cotton wool near your lashes. The fibres catch on the extensions and pull them out.
- Pulling, picking or twisting your lashes. This will pull out your natural lashes along with the extensions.
- Eyelash curlers. These will snap your extensions and damage your natural lashes.
Sleeping
- Try to sleep on your back. Side sleeping is fine but may cause the lashes on that side to lose shape faster.
- A silk or satin pillowcase reduces friction and helps your extensions last longer.
- If you are a front sleeper, consider a contoured sleep mask that keeps pressure off your lashes.
Infills
- Expect to need infills every 2 to 3 weeks.
- Your natural lashes shed on a 6 to 8 week growth cycle. You will lose some extensions as the natural lash they are attached to falls out. This is completely normal and not a sign of a problem.
- If you leave it too long between infills, you may need a full new set rather than an infill.
When to Contact Me
Contact me as soon as possible if you notice:
- Redness, swelling or puffiness around the eyes that does not settle within a few hours
- Itching or a burning sensation
- Pain or discomfort
- Any lash extension that feels stuck to the skin rather than attached to a natural lash
- Crusty, sticky or weeping eyes
Do not try to remove your extensions yourself. Pulling them off will damage your natural lashes. I can remove them safely and painlessly.
