Treatment: Microblading / Powder brows / Ombre brows / Lip blush / Eyeliner / Other: ___________________

First 24 hours
- Do NOT touch the treated area with your fingers
- Do NOT get the area wet - avoid washing your face near the treated area
- Do NOT apply makeup, moisturiser, sunscreen or any product to the treated area
- Gently blot the area with a clean tissue if any lymph fluid appears - this is normal in the first few hours
- Some redness, slight swelling or tenderness is completely normal
- The colour will look darker and more intense than the final result - this is expected
Days 1-7
- Apply a very thin layer of the aftercare balm provided, using a clean cotton bud - do not use your fingers
- Apply the balm _____ times per day (as directed by your technician)
- Less is more - a thick layer of balm can suffocate the skin and affect healing
- Do NOT pick, peel, scratch or rub the treated area, even if it itches
- Avoid heavy exercise, sweating, steam rooms, saunas and hot tubs
- Avoid swimming (pools, sea, hot tubs)
- Keep your face out of the shower stream - wash your face carefully around the treated area
- Sleep on your back if possible to avoid rubbing the area on your pillow
- Avoid direct sunlight on the treated area
- Do not apply makeup to or near the treated area
Days 7-14
- The treated area will start to flake and peel - this is a normal part of the healing process
- Do NOT pick at the flaking skin - let it shed naturally
- The colour will appear to lighten significantly or even look patchy during this phase - this is expected
- Continue applying aftercare balm as directed
- Continue avoiding swimming, heavy sweating and direct sunlight
- You may gently wash the area with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser from day 7 onwards
Weeks 2-6
The healing process continues beneath the skin. During this time:
- The true colour of your treatment will gradually appear - this takes 4-6 weeks
- Some areas may look lighter or less defined than others - this is normal and can be addressed at your top-up
- Continue to avoid swimming, sunbeds, chemical peels, retinol and exfoliating products on the treated area
- Avoid facials and skin treatments that involve the brow/treated area
- You can now wear makeup, but avoid applying it directly on the treated area until it is fully healed
Your top-up appointment
A top-up (also called a perfecting session) is usually needed 4-8 weeks after your initial treatment. This is when your technician will:
- Assess how the colour has healed
- Fill in any areas that have healed lighter
- Adjust the shape or colour if needed
- Ensure an even, lasting result
Top-up appointment: Included in price / Priced separately at £___________ (circle one)
The top-up is an essential part of the process, not an optional extra. Your results will not be complete without it.
Long-term care
Once fully healed:
- Always apply SPF 30 or higher to the treated area when outdoors - UV exposure fades semi-permanent makeup faster than anything else
- Avoid chemical peels, glycolic acid, retinol and exfoliating products directly on the treated area
- Avoid laser treatments on or near the treated area without consulting your technician first
- Results typically last 12-18 months for microblading, 18-24 months for powder/ombre brows, though this varies by skin type
- Oily skin tends to fade faster than dry skin
- Annual colour boosts are recommended to maintain the result
When to contact me
Get in touch as soon as possible if you experience any of the following:
- Excessive redness, swelling or warmth that worsens after day 3
- Any sign of infection - pus, green or yellow discharge, increasing pain
- Severe or persistent itching
- Fever or feeling unwell after your treatment
- The colour looks very wrong after healing (after the full 4-6 week healing period)
- Any other concern
Do not apply any products to the area other than the aftercare balm provided unless advised by me or a medical professional.

How to use this template
Print this on A5 card or paper. Fill in the client's details, treatment type and top-up appointment date before handing it over. Go through every section verbally during the appointment - do not just hand it over silently. Stress the "do not pick" and "it will look patchy" points, because most client panic calls happen during the flaking phase. If you send aftercare digitally, send it within an hour of the appointment finishing. Keep a record that aftercare was given - note it on the client's consultation form. This protects you if a client later claims they were not told how to care for the area.
