6.3 - Regional Pricing Benchmarks
This guide gives you average treatment prices across UK regions for common beauty and hairdressing services. Use it as a reference point - not a target. Your prices should reflect your costs, your skills, your training, and your local market. If you're below these averages and your diary is full, you're almost certainly undercharging. If you're above them and your diary is full, you're doing something right - keep going.
Quick rule of thumb: these are averages - not targets. The average includes people who are undercharging badly. Don't aim for average. Aim for profitable.
Tip for new starters: These are averages, not targets. The average includes people who are massively undercharging. Work out your own costs first using the Tax-Integrated Pricing guide, then see where you sit. If your prices are below the lower end of your region, raise them.
How these figures were compiled
These benchmarks are compiled from multiple industry sources including the NHBF annual industry survey, Treatwell and Fresha booking platform data, Salon Tracker analytics, and independent pricing surveys from 2024-2026. All figures are approximate averages for self-employed practitioners and small salons - not budget chains or luxury central London venues.
Regional variation is real. A full head of highlights in Mayfair costs 3-4x what it costs in a small town in County Durham. But even within regions, prices vary hugely depending on skill level, clientele, and positioning. A newly qualified nail tech and a specialist with 15 years' experience in the same town can - and should - charge very different prices.
Caveats:
- All prices are approximate averages. Your local market may differ significantly.
- Prices change. These figures reflect 2025-2026 data.
- Mobile workers typically charge a small premium (£5-10) over salon-based prices to cover travel time and fuel - or they should.
- Home-based workers typically charge slightly less than salon-based prices, but this is a choice, not a rule. Your overheads are lower, but your service isn't worth less.

Aesthetics services
Important note: Aesthetics pricing varies enormously based on practitioner qualifications, product brands, and treatment complexity. A nurse prescriber using premium products in a clinical setting will (and should) charge significantly more than a beauty therapist with a short course qualification. The figures below are broad averages for qualified practitioners.
Botox (anti-wrinkle injections) - per area
| Region | Average price per area |
|---|---|
| London | £200-350 |
| South East | £180-280 |
| South West | £150-250 |
| East of England | £150-250 |
| Midlands | £130-220 |
| North West | £120-200 |
| North East | £100-180 |
| Yorkshire & Humber | £120-200 |
| Scotland | £120-200 |
| Wales | £100-180 |
| Northern Ireland | £100-170 |
Multi-area discounts are standard: 1 area at full price, 2 areas at ~15-20% less each, 3 areas at ~25-30% less each. This is normal industry practice.
Dermal filler - per ml (lips or cheeks)
| Region | Average price per ml |
|---|---|
| London | £280-450 |
| South East | £250-380 |
| South West | £220-350 |
| East of England | £220-340 |
| Midlands | £200-320 |
| North West | £180-300 |
| North East | £160-270 |
| Yorkshire & Humber | £180-280 |
| Scotland | £180-300 |
| Wales | £160-270 |
| Northern Ireland | £150-250 |
How to use these benchmarks
Don't price to the average - price to your costs
The average includes people who are chronically undercharging. If you price to the average, you're pricing to include their mistakes. Work out what you actually need to earn (see the Tax-Integrated Pricing guide), then check how that compares to your region.
If you're below the lower end of your region
You're undercharging. Significantly. Unless you've just qualified and are building a client base, there's no reason to be below the regional floor. Raise your prices.
If you're at the average
You're probably fine - but check whether the average actually covers your costs. In many cases, especially in lower-price regions, the average price doesn't generate a sustainable income for a sole trader once all costs are factored in.
If you're above the average
Good. You're either in a premium market, you've built a strong reputation, or you've done the maths properly. If your diary is full at above-average prices, you've found your market. If your diary has gaps, review whether your service, marketing, and client experience justify your premium positioning.
Mobile premium
If you're mobile, your prices should be at least £5-10 above these benchmarks to cover travel time, fuel, wear on your vehicle, and the convenience you're providing to the client. Many mobile workers undercharge by absorbing travel costs - don't.
Home salon discount?
Some home-based workers price below salon rates because "I don't have salon overheads." Your overheads are lower, yes. But your service isn't worth less. You're still qualified, still insured, still using quality products. Price on value, not on overheads.
What to do next
- Find your region in the tables above.
- Compare your current prices to the regional range.
- If you're below the lower end, raise your prices - you're leaving money on the table.
- If you're at the average, check whether the average actually covers your costs using the Tax-Integrated Pricing guide.
- Remember: these are averages, not targets. Your price should be based on your costs, your skills, and your market - not on what everyone else charges.
